Pendleton & Local Area
MotoLodge is Pendleton's only independent boutique hotel — Oregonian owned, independently operated, and located in the heart of downtown Pendleton, Oregon. We opened in June 2022 after a complete renovation that rescued this classic 1959 property from neglect and disrepair. Our 40 rooms were built by Pendleton-based contractors, designed by Oregon-based Tello Interiors, and furnished with custom pieces made by Oregon craftspeople. No corporate flags. No franchise. No call center.
A few things chains structurally can't offer. First, our location: we're in historic downtown Pendleton, 3 blocks from Main Street and walkable to the best restaurants, bars, breweries and shopping in town. Second, our amenities: a year-round outdoor barrel sauna — a Pendleton Whisky™ partnership — and a seasonal outdoor pool. Third, our ownership: Oregonian owned and independently operated means the people answering the phone are the people who actually run the hotel. And fourth, our rooms: completely renovated in 2022, with custom furnishings and Oregon-made art above every bed. You won't mistake them for a chain.
Hotel Pendleton is a Wyndham Trademark Collection property — a corporate flag with franchise fees, corporate scripts, and a call center. MotoLodge is Oregonian owned and independently operated. No flag, no franchise, no corporate overlords. We're also different properties physically. MotoLodge is a completely renovated 40-room boutique hotel that opened in June 2022 — lifted out of vacant, non-operational decay with the support of a City of Pendleton downtown rejuvenation grant. Every contractor on the build was Pendleton-based. If you want loyalty points, Hotel Pendleton or the highway chains are your options. If you want the only independent boutique hotel in downtown Pendleton, this is it.
MotoLodge is Oregonian owned and independently operated. We purchased the building in December 2021 — it was non-operational and had been slowly deteriorating for years. Originally built in 1959, it sat on what was then the main state highway through Eastern Oregon, before Interstate 84 was constructed. After a complete renovation — supported by a City of Pendleton downtown rejuvenation grant, with every contractor on the build being Pendleton-based — MotoLodge opened in June 2022. The city believed in the project. So did we.
MotoLodge is located at 310 SE Dorion Ave, Pendleton, OR 97801 — on the edge of historic downtown Pendleton, 3 blocks from Main Street.
About a 2-minute drive from I-84 — close enough that getting off the highway is painless, far enough that you arrive in the heart of real Pendleton rather than a highway service area. We're 4 blocks from the on-ramp and right on the edge of historic downtown.
Yes — free on-site parking, no fees, no moving your car. Park when you arrive and you're done. Most guests don't touch their car again until checkout, because the best restaurants, bars, and breweries in Pendleton are all within a short walk.
More than most guests expect. Pendleton's downtown core — with its best restaurants, craft bars, and local breweries — is a 3 to 5 minute walk from our front door. Pendleton Woolen Mills, the Pendleton Underground Tours, and the historic Main Street are all easily walkable. Most guests park when they arrive and don't touch their car again until checkout.
We have 40 rooms across three configurations:
All rooms were fully renovated when we opened in June 2022. All room types include access to our year-round outdoor barrel sauna and seasonal outdoor pool.
Yes — a seasonal outdoor pool, open Memorial Day Weekend until Mid-September. All guests have access to the pool during the season.
Yes — a year-round outdoor barrel sauna, available to all guests regardless of season. It's a Pendleton Whisky™ branded sauna, one of the more distinctive amenities at any hotel in Eastern Oregon. After a long drive through the region — especially in fall or winter — it's a genuinely good way to end the day.
A barrel sauna is a cylindrical cedar sauna — the classic Finnish sauna experience in an outdoor setting. Ours is heated, comfortable for a small group, and available year-round. You heat it up, relax inside, and cool down outside under the Eastern Oregon sky. It's available to all guests at no additional charge. Our staff are happy to make sure it is hot and ready when you get here, just give us a call before you arrive.
Not currently — we have a seasonal outdoor pool and a year-round barrel sauna.
Yes — complimentary high speed Wi-Fi is available throughout the property and in all rooms. Fun fact: Pendleton has the fastest fiber internet service in Oregon.
Yes — Business travelers connected to the Pendleton UAV Range, contractors working in the region, and corporate visitors to the area all stay regularly. Reliable Wi-Fi, large in-room desks, easy highway access, and walkable dinner options mean no need to get back in the car at the end of a long day.
Yes — we welcome dogs and are one of the more pet-accommodating hotels in Pendleton. Our policy:
We've hosted hundreds of pet stays and it we love our four legged guests. If you're road-tripping with a dog on I-84, we're a welcoming stop. We also have a complimentary outdoor pet washing station.
Check-in is at 4:00 PM. Check-out is at 11:00 AM. If you're arriving late, just give us a call at 541-612-0790 and we'll make sure you're taken care of.
Yes — call us directly at 541-612-0790 for same-day availability. We're a 40-room property and fill up quickly on summer weekends, holidays and during special events like Pendleton Round-Up in September. But we welcome last-minute travelers coming off I-84 whenever we have availability. Pendleton Round-Up in particular: we typically sell out 8 or more months in advance. If you're planning to attend, contact us as early as possible.
Cancellations must be made at least 2 days prior to your arrival date by 4:00 PM local hotel time to avoid a penalty. Late cancellations and no-shows will be charged the first night's room rate plus tax to the credit card on file.
More than most people expect. Pendleton has a working Woolen Mills where you can watch blankets being made, the Pendleton Whisky distillery, genuine cowboy bars alongside craft breweries, underground historical tours, and some of the most dramatic ranching and grain-farming scenery in the Pacific Northwest. Most guests who think they're “just stopping for the night” end up wishing they'd booked a second.
Pendleton is worth a stop year-round, but the standout windows are: September for the Pendleton Round-Up (one of the largest rodeos in the country — book early), April through August for peak travel season on I-84 with long evenings and outdoor activity, and fall and winter for quieter visits with softer rates and the barrel sauna as a compelling reason to stop.
Not at all — though you might leave as one. What sets Pendleton apart from similar Western towns is that the culture here isn't a reenactment. The cowboy culture you experience in Pendleton is still a living part of the town's identity — not a gimmick, not a museum piece.
Yes — we're in downtown Pendleton, a short drive from the Round-Up grounds. We sell out for Round-Up typically 8 or more months in advance. If you're planning to attend, do not wait to book.
